SYMPTOMS
========

If you select Database fields with different field formats, and then choose
Field from the Format menu, the format changes when you choose OK.
Serialized fields lose their suffix and prefix. The Number, Date, and Time
fields revert back to the first setting under Appearance in the Format
Field dialog box.

For example, a field formatted for Date as the Type and DEC, 1994 as the
Appearance will revert to 12/31/94.

NOTE: Date, Time, and Number formatted fields do NOT change field types
like the Serialized field does.

RESOLUTION
==========

All fields must be formatted individually.

Steps to Reproduce Problem
--------------------------

1. Create a new Database file.

2. For the Type, choose Text for Field 1.

3. For Field 2, choose Serialized as the Type. Select "Test-" (without the
   quotation marks) as the prefix. Choose OK.

4. Enter text in Field 1. Field 2 will automatically fill in information.

5. Select both Fields 1 and 2.

6. From the Format field, choose Field. Choose OK.

Result: The serialized field loses its prefix and suffix. If the
field type is verified for Field 2, the Type will automatically
change to Number.

Expected Result: Because nothing was selected in the Format Field
dialog box, nothing should change for both fields.
