Word 1.x and 2.x for Windows to Word 6.0 for the Macintosh

Word 6.0 for the Macintosh internally recognizes and automatically reads
Word 1.x and 2.x for Windows documents. You can therefore open these files
in the same manner you would open a Word 6.0 document.
 
Word 6.0 for the Macintosh to Word 2.x for Windows

Method 1: Saving from Word 6.0 for the Macintosh:
 
To save a Word 6.0 for the Macintosh document as Word 2.x for Windows 
format, follow these steps: 
 
1. In Word 6.0 for the Macintosh, click Save As on the File menu.
 
2. In the Save File As Type list, click Word 2.x for Windows.
 
3. Save the file.
 
For information on limitations when saving as Word 2.x for Windows format, 
double-click the Help button on the Standard toolbar in Word 6.0 for the 
Macintosh, and then type "readme". Press ENTER twice, select File 
Conversion, Conversion Limitations, and view the "Converting from Microsoft 
Word 6.0 to Microsoft Word for Windows 2.0" topic. 
 
Method 2: Using a Converter in Word 2.x:
 
If you don't have access to Word 6.0 for the Macintosh, a converter is 
available that enables you to open Word 6.0 for the Macintosh documents 
directly into Word 2.0 for Windows. For information on how to obtain this

Word 6.0 for the Macintosh to Word 1.x for Windows

To save a Word 6.0 for the Macintosh document as Word 1.x for Windows
format, follow these steps:
 
1. Word 6.0 for the Macintosh, on the File menu, click Save As.
 
2. From the Save File As Type list, select Word 1.x for Windows.
 
3. Save the file.
 
NOTE: To use this procedure, you must install the Word 1.x for Windows 
converter. This converter is not supplied with Word 6.0 for the Macintosh. 
It is available with the Word 6.0 for the Macintosh Supplemental Converter 
Disk, which can be ordered using the Supplemental Offers Coupon included in 
your Word package or by downloading the file from an online service.
