SUMMARY
=======

The PABCHK utility provided with Application Note WA0727 is a Personal
Address Book (PAB) utility for Microsoft Mail for Windows versions 3.0,
3.0b and 3.2. This utility reports duplicate and invalid entries in the
Personal Address Book. PABCHK handles the following conditions:

 - Duplicate PAB entries that are exactly the same will be reported. This
   means that the friendly name and 10/10/10 email address should be
   exactly the same. If any of these fields are different, it is not a
   duplicate.

 - PAB entries that exist on the Global Address List (GAL) will have their
   address checked against the GAL. If the friendly name exactly matches a
   friendly name in the GAL, but the 10/10/10 address is different than the
   GAL, it will be reported as an entry that needs to be corrected.

 - PAB entries that do not exist in the GAL and only have one occurrence
   will not be reported.

MORE INFORMATION
================

If you add a user to your PAB and if the user is later deleted and the
Global Address is rebuilt, PABCHK will not report this entry in your PAB as
an invalid address. This is by design. PABCHK has no way of distinguishing
between a deleted entry and a custom address (not in any of the
administrator-maintained lists) that you added to your PAB.
