SYMPTOMS
========

If you copy multiple sound objects from one presentation to another,
all the sound objects will play the same sound in the new presentation.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM
==============================

1. Insert more than one Sound object on a slide. You can insert them
   as either Sound objects or Media Clip objects, but they all have
   to be the same type of object. Each object should contain a
   different sound.

2. Double-click each object. Each object will play a different
   sound.

3. Select all the objects by holding down the SHIFT key while clicking
   each object.

4. From the Edit menu, choose Copy.

5. Open a different presentation and choose Paste from the Edit
   menu.

You will find that all of the objects play the same sound when you
double-click them.

MORE INFORMATION
================

The same problem occurs if you copy an entire slide that contains
multiple sound objects from one presentation to another.

The problem does not occur if you copy multiple sound objects from one
slide to another in the same presentation, nor does it occur if you
copy sound objects of different types (for example, one Sound Recorder
object and one Media Clip object) to another presentation.

RESOLUTION
==========

To move multiple sound objects from one presentation to another, you
will have to copy them and paste them separately. The multiple
selection followed by copying and pasting causes the data loss.

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in PowerPoint version
4.0, 4.0a, and 4.0c. We are researching this problem and will post new
information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
