SYMPTOMS
========

You pasted text inside a TC field, but the text incorrectly displays and
prints as not hidden.

If you type additional text after the pasted text, this text is hidden.

Applying Hidden font formatting to the pasted text causes the table of
contents to have hidden TOC levels.

CAUSE
=====

This problem occurs when you use the following procedure:

1. Position your insertion point immediately following the TC field name.
2. Turn the Smart Cut And Paste feature on.
3. Paste text into the field.

This behavior does not occur if you add a space after the TC field before
pasting the text in the field.

When Smart Cut And Paste is on and you paste text in a TC field, Word adds
a space before the pasted text. The space added does not contain hidden
formatting and causes the text to come in formatted without the hidden
feature of the TC field.

STATUS
======

Microsoft is researching this problem and will post new information here in
the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.

WORKAROUNDS
===========

Method 1: Add a space after the TC field name before pasting the text.

Method 2: If you have already inserted the text, first delete the space
          and then reinsert (retype) it.
