The information in this article applies to:

 - Microsoft Word for the Macintosh, version 6.0

SYMPTOMS
========
If you choose Examples and Demos or Quick Preview from the Help menu, one
the following error messages occurs in Word for the Macintosh if your
computer does not have a HyperCard:

   Word cannot start Examples and Demos.
   Word cannot start Quick Preview.

CAUSE
=====
The above error message does not explain that the Word examples and
demonstrations (the tutorial) do not run unless a HyperCard is installed in
your Macintosh. If you choose the Help button in the error message dialog
box, Word displays a "No Help available" message, which also does not
explain why the error occurred.
When you install the examples and demonstrations on a computer with no
HyperCard, Word Setup does not notify you that you cannot run the examples
and demonstrations unless you install a HyperCard.

STATUS
======
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Word version 6.0 for the
Macintosh. We are researching this problem and will post new information
here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
