1. Q. How do I install PowerPoint 4.0 on the network?

A. There are two ways you can install PowerPoint on your network. You
can either install PowerPoint on each workstation's hard drive or
you can install PowerPoint so that the workstations run PowerPoint
from the server. Appendix A of the "Microsoft PowerPoint Handbook"
provides more information about this process.

2. Q. What is the minimum configuration my machine should have in
order to install and run PowerPoint 4.0?

   A. The minimum system requirements for running PowerPoint 4.0 on a
      Macintosh are:

       - System 7.0 or later
       - 68020 or higher microprocessor
       - Six megabytes (MB) of memory
       - Hard disk
       - A 3.5-inch (1.4 MB) floppy drive
       - Color monitor

3. Q. How much free disk space do I need to install PowerPoint 4.0?

   A. A Typical installation requires 12 megabytes of free hard disk
space. A Custom installation requires 36 megabytes of free hard
disk space. A Minimum installation requires 7 megabytes of free
      hard disk space.

4. Q. How can I add or remove some of PowerPoint 4.0's components?

   A. To add or remove PowerPoint 4.0's components, run the PowerPoint
Setup. This will run Setup in maintenance mode, and automatically
tell you which components you can remove and what you can install. If
the PowerPoint Setup icon is not on your hard drive, simply run it
from your disks. If you installed PowerPoint 4.0 from a server, you
should run Setup from the server location.

5. Q. I have two Microsoft folders - one in the Extensions folder and
another on the hard drive. Do I need both of them?

   A. The Microsoft folder located in the Extensions folder contains
files that are used by earlier versions of Microsoft products.
These products are PowerPoint 3.0, Excel 4.0, and Word 5.x. If you
still use these products, you must keep this folder. The Microsoft
folder on the hard drive contains shared files for the latest
versions of Microsoft products. These products are PowerPoint 4.0,
Excel 5.0, and Word 6.0. If you use a combination of the earlier
and the newer products, keep both folders.

6. Q. What components does PowerPoint 4.0 share with Excel 5.0 and Word
      6.0?

   A. The shared components for PowerPoint 4.0, Excel 5.0, and Word 6.0 are
located in the Microsoft folder. The following six items are examples
      of these shared components:

       - Microsoft Organization Chart 1.0
       - Microsoft Graph 5
       - ClipArt Gallery
       - WordArt
       - Spelling
       - US English Dictionary
       - US English Thesaurus
