SUMMARY
=======

This article discusses how to prevent Works 3.0 or 4.0 spreadsheet columns
or database fields from appearing on a printout.

To preventing columns from printing in Works 3.0/4.0 spreadsheets
-----------------------------------------------------------------

1. Select the column.

2. In Works 4.0, choose Font And Style from the Format menu. In Works 3.0,
choose Format Character from the Format menu.

3. In the Color box (under Style), select the white square in the upper-
left corner of color palette. This will make the characters in that
   column white.

4. Preview, then print your document.

5. Before closing your document, repeat steps 1-2 and choose the black
square from the color palette. This will change your characters from
   white back to black.

To preventing fields from printing in Works 3.0 databases
---------------------------------------------------------

1. Create a report.

2. Select the field.

2. In report view adjust the right margin triangle on the ruler to include
the columns or fields you want to print.

3. Select the field you want to hide and drag it past the right margin
triangle. Any field beyond the right margin triangle will not print.

For more information, please refer to page 152 of the Works 3.0 "User's
Guide."

To hide fields in a Works 4.0 database
--------------------------------------

1. From the Insert menu, choose Report to create a report.

2. Select the Fields tab and select only the fields you want to print.

For more information, see page 280, "Adding fields to a report," in the
Microsoft Works 4.0 "User's Guide."
