The information in this article applies to:

 - Microsoft PowerPoint for Windows, versions 4.0, 4.0a, 4.0c

SYMPTOMS
========

When you save a PowerPoint for Windows presentation, you may receive the
error message:

   Sorry, there was an error (-1) accessing the file.

CAUSE
=====

This problem is caused by a corrupt OLE object or graphic on one or more
slides.

RESOLUTION
==========

To save your presentation, you will need to identify, remove, and replace
the corrupt object or objects. Here are some things you can try to identify
the problem:

 - Select all the slides and copy them to a new (blank) presentation. If
   you can save the presentation, the corrupt object was on the slide
   master of your original presentation.

 - If you still get the error when you save the new presentation, start
   copying your slides one by one from your presentation to another blank
   presentation. Attempt to save the presentation after you paste in each
   new slide. When you start to receive the error message, you know you
   have isolated a problem slide.

 - Copy the problem slide to its own presentation. Delete one object at a
   time. Attempt to save the slide after each deletion. When you do not get
   the error message, you know that the last object you deleted is the
   problem object.
