The information in this article applies to:

 - Microsoft PowerPoint for the Macintosh, versions 3.0, 3.0b, 4.0
 - Microsoft Excel for the Macintosh, version 5.0
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

SYMPTOMS
========

If you paste or insert a Microsoft Excel 5.0 worksheet into a PowerPoint
presentation, cells that contain word-wrapped text may not print.

CAUSE
=====

This problem occurs when you use version 8.0 through 8.1.1 of Apple's
LaserWriter printer driver. This is not really a problem with PowerPoint.
The same Microsoft Excel worksheet inserted or pasted into Word will print
with the same problem.

RESOLUTION
==========

Apple LaserWriter drivers versions 7.0, 7.1.1, 7.1.2, 7.2, and 8.2 will
print the Wrap-Text-formatted text. You can switch to one of these drivers
if one is available.

If you can't use another version of the printer driver, try this
workaround:

1. Return the worksheet to Microsoft Excel 5.0 either by double-clicking
   the embedded object or by running Microsoft Excel 5.0 and opening the
   worksheet.

2. Highlight all of the text to select it.

3. From the Format menu, choose Cells, and select the Alignment tab.

4. Clear the Wrap Text check box.

5. Either copy the worksheet again or update the worksheet in PowerPoint
   and return.

If the wrapped text is critical to the layout of your slide, you can do the
following instead:

1. Click on the Microsoft Excel worksheet to select it.

2. From the Draw menu, choose Ungroup (or from the Arrange menu if you are
   using PowerPoint 3.0). You will see the following message:

       This is an imported object, not a group. Converting it to
       PowerPoint objects will permanently discard any embedded
       data it may contain. Convert to PowerPoint objects?

   Choose OK.

Your worksheet will now be redrawn as though you had created it using
PowerPoint's drawing tools. Its appearance should not change much or at
all, but it should print correctly now.
