SUMMARY
=======

When you create a Works 3.0 stationery document, such as a Word
Processor(WP), Database (DB), Spreadsheet(SS), Draw(DR), or Communications
(CM)file, and convert it to Works 4.0, you must save the file with a
different name or to a different folder. If you attempt to save the file
with the same name into the same folder, the message "File Already Open"
appears.

TO SAVE WITH A DIFFERENT NAME
=============================

 1. Create a Works 3.0 stationery document.

 2. Close Works 3.0 and open the stationery document in
    Works 4.0. See "To open an existing document from
    within Works" on page 32 of the "Microsoft Works
    User's Guide."

    The message "Converting Works 3.0 document" appears.
    The document opens as untitled.

 3. Try to save the document with the original document
    name. The message "Replace Existing <document name>?"
    appears.

 4. Select Replace. The message "File Already Open" appears.

 5. Choose OK, which brings you back to step 3.

 6. To save the file as a Stationery document in Works 4.0,
    choose Save As under the File menu, change the name of
    the document, select Stationery under the File Format
    section, and choose Save.

 7. If you want to delete the Works 3.0 stationery document,
    close Works 4.0 or the following message appears:

      The item <Works 3.0 file name> could not be deleted
      because it contains items that are in use. Do you
      want to continue? Stop? Continue?

 8. If you choose continue it will take you to step 7.
    Choose Stop.

 9. When you close Works 4.0, choose Empty Trash from the
    Special menu and your file will be deleted from the
    trash can.

TO SAVE TO A DIFFERENT FOLDER
=============================

 1. Refer to steps 1 and 2 in the "To Save with a Different
    Name" section above to create a Works 3.0 stationary
    document and open it in 4.0.

 2. From the File menu, choose Save As and select a
    different folder on your hard drive or a floppy
    disk, and save the document.

 3. If you want to delete the original Works 3.0 Stationery
    document, refer to steps 7-9 in the "To Save with a
    Different Name" section above.
