The information in this article applies to:

 - Microsoft PowerPoint for Windows, versions 4.0, 4.0a, 4.0c
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

SYMPTOM
=======

If you insert an EPS (Encapsulated PostScript) graphic created by
CorelDRAW! 5.0 into a PowerPoint slide, it may not be visible. You will not
receive any error message.

CAUSE
=====

The inserted graphic is actually in PowerPoint but may be at a coordinate
outside the visible workspace area.

STATUS
======

This issue has been resolved in CorelDRAW! 5.0, revision E2.

WORKAROUND
==========

Instead of inserting or pasting the EPS graphic directly into PowerPoint,
add the graphic to Microsoft ClipArt Gallery. You can then insert the
graphic into your presentation using the ClipArt Gallery. Use the following
procedure:

1. From the Insert menu, choose ClipArt. This will start Microsoft ClipArt
   Gallery.

2. Choose Options, and then choose Add.

3. Change the drive and directory if necessary, select the EPS file from
   the Picture Name list, and choose OK.

4. Select the category where you want to place the EPS file, type a
   description (optional), and choose Add.

5. Select the newly added picture and choose OK to insert it into the
   PowerPoint slide.

MORE INFORMATION
================

The Adobe Encapsulated PostScript file format uses a coordinate system to
specify where an object is drawn in a given workspace. This coordinate
system references the lower-left corner of the workspace as 0,0 (the
starting point).

In the EPS files exported from CorelDRAW! 5.0, the lower-left corner of the
picture may be placed 30 inches up and 30 inches to the right from the 0,0
starting coordinate. PowerPoint has a maximum workspace of 56 inches x 56
inches but uses a coordinate system that starts in the exact center of the
workspace, not the lower-left corner. Therefore, the EPS graphic may be
placed outside of visible workspace.

The ClipArt Gallery supplied with PowerPoint will ignore the EPS offsets
and place the graphic in the center of the PowerPoint workspace.
