 - Microsoft Money 98
 - Microsoft Money version 5.0 for Windows 95

SUMMARY
=======

Microsoft Money exports reports in a tab-delimited format. The reports
have some extra information that Microsoft Access does not recognize.

MORE INFORMATION
================

Access looks at the first row of the file to determine the number
of fields. Because the first row of the report text file has a title,
possibly followed by a date and some blank lines, Access thinks there
is only one field to import. In this format, Access imports all of the
data into one field. To resolve this issue, delete these lines.

Exporting a Report to a Text File
---------------------------------

To export the report to a text file, use the appropriate method for your
version of Money.

Money 99, 98:

1. While viewing the report in Money, right-click the report and then click
   Export on the shortcut menu.

2. Type the name of the file and click OK.

Money 97, 4.0, 3.0 2.0 and 1.0:

 1. While viewing the report in Money, click Export.

Importing the Text File into Access

 1. Open the text file in a spreadsheet and delete the first few lines
    above the column titles: (Title, date (if any) and blank lines).

 2. Save the file in tab-delimited format.

    NOTE: Steps 1 and 2 are not necessary if you are using Access 97.

 3. Open a new Access database.

 4. Use the right mouse button to click the database window and click
    Import.

 5. Click Text (delimited) and click OK.

 6. Select the text file and click Import.

 7. Click the First Row Contain Field Names box.

 8. Click Options.

 9. Change the text delimiter to None.

10. Change the field separator to Tab.

11. Click OK to import the file.

    Once Access is done importing, it will tell you how many records
    were imported and if there were any errors.
