Before you edit the registry, you should first make a backup copy of the
registry files (System.dat and User.dat). Both are hidden files in the
Windows folder.

term using the Find command, the term is saved in the drop-down list below
the Find command and in the Backlist.

The procedure to delete unwanted queries is different for Bookshelf 1993,
Bookshelf 1994, Bookshelf '95 (16-bit), Bookshelf '95 for Windows 95 (32-
bit), and Bookshelf '96-'97 for Windows (16-bit & 32-bit).
 
NOTE: The following steps assume Windows is installed in the C:\WINDOWS
directory in Windows 3.x, or the Windows folder on drive C in Windows 95
or Windows 98.
 
Steps to Delete Unwanted Words in any Bookshelf 32-bit version
--------------------------------------------------------------
 
WARNING: Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems
that may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot
guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry
Editor can be solved. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.
 
For information about how to edit the registry, view the "Changing Keys
And Values" Help topic in Registry Editor (Regedit.exe) or the "Add and
Delete Information in the Registry" and "Edit Registry Data" Help topics
in Regedt32.exe. Note that you should back up the registry before you
edit it.
 
To delete Bookshelf 95 queries in Windows 95/98, use Registry Editor
to delete all string values named Query<x> (where <x> is a number) in
the following registry key:
 
   HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\BSHELF95\Find
 
To delete Bookshelf 1996-97 queries in Windows 95/98, use Registry Editor
to delete all string values named Query<x> (where <x> is a number) in the
following registry key:
 
   HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Microsoft Reference\Bookshelf\96\
   Find
 
To delete Bookshelf 98 queries in Windows 95/98, use Registry Editor
to delete all string values named Query<x> (where <x> is a number) in
the following registry key:
 
   HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Microsoft Reference\Bookshelf\98\
   Find
 
Steps to Delete Unwanted Words in Bookshelf '95 or '96-'97 (16-bit)
-------------------------------------------------------------------
 
1. In Program Manager, click Run on the File menu. In Windows 95/98, click
   Start, and then click Run.
 
2. Type "notepad c:\windows\bshelf95.ini" (without the quotation marks),
   and then press ENTER.
 
      -or-
 
   Type "notepad c:\windows\bshelf96.ini" (without the quotation marks),
   and then press ENTER.
 
3. Locate the [Find] section.
 
4. Delete all of the lines that start with the word Query, for example:
 
      Query1=
      Query2=
 
5. Quit Notepad. When you are prompted to save the changes to the file,
   click Yes.
 
6. Restart Bookshelf.
 
Steps to Delete Unwanted Words in Bookshelf 1994
------------------------------------------------
 
1. In Program Manager, click Run on the File menu. In Windows 95/98, click
   Start, and then click Run.
 
2. Type "notepad c:\windows\bs94.ini" (without the quotation marks), and
   then press ENTER.
 
3. Locate the [Find] section.
 
4. Delete all of the lines that start with the word Query, for example:
 
      Query1=
      Query2=
 
5. Quit Notepad. When you are prompted to save the changes to the file,
   click Yes.
 
6. Restart Bookshelf.
 
Steps to Delete Unwanted Words in Bookshelf 1993
------------------------------------------------
 
1. In Program Manager, click Run on the File menu. In Windows 95/98, click
   Start, and then click Run.
 
2. Type "notepad c:\windows\viewer.ini" (without the quotation marks), and
   then press ENTER.
 
3. Locate the [System Parameters] section.
 
4. Delete all of the lines that start with the word Query, for example:
 
      Query1=
      Query2=
 
5. Quit Notepad. When you are prompted to save the changes to the file,
   click Yes.
 
6. Restart Bookshelf.
