The information in this article applies to:

 - Microsoft Works for the Macintosh, versions 4.0, 4.0a, 4.0b
 - Microsoft Works for the Power Macintosh, version 4.0b
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

SYMPTOMS
========

When you try to paste link information (text, spreadsheet cells, charts, or
pictures) from one Works 4.0 document to another, the Paste Special command
on the Edit menu is unavailable.

CAUSE
=====

Although you can link information from other OLE-compatible applications
(such as Microsoft Word) into your Works Word Processor documents, you
cannot link information from one Works 4.0 document to another.

For example, if you copy text in one Works document to the Clipboard, you
can paste the Clipboard contents into a second Works document, but you
cannot paste link it. If you try to choose Paste Special from the Edit
menu, you'll see that the command is unavailable (dimmed).
