SYMPTOMS
========
 
When you are signing up for The Microsoft Network, you receive the
following error message when you enter a password:
 
   Your password is too short.
 
CAUSE
=====
 
This error message can occur for either of the following reasons:
 
 - You entered a password that really is too short (less than eight
   characters).
 
 - You used invalid characters in the password.
 
RESOLUTION
==========
 
Use a password that has a minimum of eight characters and uses only valid
characters. Valid characters for a password are the letters A-Z (uppercase
or lowercase), the numbers 0-9, and the hyphen (-) character.
 
Note: Passwords are not case-sensitive.
