The information in this article applies to:

 - Microsoft Word for the Macintosh, version 6.0

SYMPTOMS
========

When you open a Word 5.x for the Macintosh document into Word 6.0 for the
Macintosh, any complex equations that contain nested parentheses may not be
converted properly.

The resulting field created in Word 6.0 may incorrectly place a closing
parenthesis outside the right field brace. When the EQ field is updated, it
does not show the correct equation.

STATUS
======

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Word version 6.0
for the Macintosh. This problem was corrected in Word version 6.0.1 for the
Macintosh.
