SYMPTOM
=======

The following message may appear when you try to run Microsoft Bookshelf
from the CD titled Microsoft Works and Bookshelf:

   Please insert the Microsoft Bookshelf 1994 (or 1995) disc in
   the CD-ROM drive.

This appears even if the CD is in the drive.

RESOLUTION
==========

1. Remove the Bookshelf Pref file from the Preferences
   Folder in the System Folder.

   NOTE: If the file does not exist, proceed to step 2.

2. Reinstall Bookshelf by using the Install Bookshelf icon on
   the CD.

MORE INFORMATION
================

The Bookshelf readme file on the CD states that a manual installation can
be performed for Bookshelf 1994. While this is true for the CD that
contains only Bookshelf 1994, it does not apply to the multimedia Works and
Bookshelf 1994 CD.

The installer on the Works and Bookshelf 1994 CD creates a specific
preference file that instructs Bookshelf to look for the CD containing
Microsoft Works and Bookshelf 1994. The installer is the only way to create
this preference. Without it, Bookshelf will automatically look for the disc
containing Bookshelf 1994 only.
