SUMMARY
=======

In a Works database or spreadsheet, a warning message may appear when you
change the format of a field, or paste information into a field. This
usually occurs because the data in the field does not correspond with the
new format being applied or the new data pasted into the field.

MORE INFORMATION
================

If you continue to change the format or paste non-conforming information,
data may be lost. The error message only tells you something may be
dropped. You must investigate the change, decide if information has
been lost, and rebuild the data, as necessary.

For example, if you try to format the following field to the
Number format,

   Field 1
   -------

   Record 1: TEST
   Record 2: 123
   Record 3: 456
   Record 4: 7 8
   Record 5: 789

you will get the following error message:

   2 cell(s) could not be converted to the destination type. From the Edit
   menu, choose Undo to recover the original data.

If you ignore the message and continue with the conversion, you can lose
data. Using the same field information, data in Record 1 and 4 may
disappear because it does not fit the new format type. For example:

   Field 1
   -------

   Record 1:
   Record 2: 123
   Record 3: 456
   Record 4:
   Record 5: 789

To utilize the new format, you may have to re-enter information lost
during conversion. In some situations, the new format is incompatible
with old information. In that case, from the Edit menu, choose Undo, to
return your previous format.
