SYMPTOMS
========

If you enter a new loan payment transaction and change the category
from loan payment to split, you may lose the split information for
the loan payment.

CAUSE
=====

This problem will occur if you choose Loan Payment as the category and
the name of the loan account as the subcategory (either manually or by
SmartFill), and you then change the category to Split.

A loan payment is inherently a split transaction with Principal,
Interest, and Other Fees as components of the split.

RESOLUTION
==========

To resolve this, cancel or delete this transaction and re-enter it as a
Loan Payment transaction. This will reset the loan payment split
information.

To correct this problem:

1. In the Loan Payment split dialog box, choose Cancel.

2. From the Edit menu, choose Delete Transaction.

3. Re-enter the transaction as a Loan Payment transaction.

MORE INFORMATION
================

If you try to edit the split information by changing the category from
Loan Payment to Split, you will get the following message:

   Changing this transaction will delete all information linking this
   transaction to the loan <loan name>.

If you choose Cancel at this point and then try to edit the split
information for the transaction, the split information will be
missing.
This problem was corrected in Money 4.0 for Windows 95.
