SYMPTOMS
========

In Microsoft Project, when you cancel a subscriber on the Gantt
chart or in the Object viewer in the Resource Form or Task Form, the
contents of the subscriber is removed from the project.

CAUSE
=====

When you subscribe to an edition from the Gantt chart, or the
Object viewer in the Resource Form or Task Form, the subscriber is
inserted as a picture into your project. If you cancel the subscriber
using either the Cancel Subscriber button (available when you
double-click the subscriber) or the Break Link button (available in
the Links dialog box), the subscriber is removed from your project.

This behavior contradicts information in the Help file, which
indicates that canceling a subscriber removes the link between the
subscriber and the edition, but the contents of the subscriber
remains in your project.

Note that when you cancel a subscriber on a table in your project,
such as the Gantt table, the contents of the subscriber remains in
your project as the Help file describes; however, the link is broken as
expected.

WORKAROUNDS
===========

If you want to display information from your project as a picture in
an Object box, or in another project, without linking the data, you
can copy the information, and use the Paste Special dialog box to
paste the information as a picture.

MORE INFORMATION
================

The Help file states that if you decide you no longer need to update
a subscriber in your project file, you can cancel it, and the
contents of the subscriber will remain in your project file. The Help
file indicates that Microsoft Project severs the link between the
subscriber and the edition, leaving the contents of the subscriber in
your project. This is true only of a subscriber on a table. This is
not true with a subscriber that is a picture, such as a subscriber on
the Gantt chart.
