The information in this article applies to:

 - Microsoft Automap Road Atlas for Windows, version 4.0
 - Microsoft Automap Destination Europe, version 1.0
-------------------------------------------------------------------

SYMPTOMS
========

When you install Destination Europe to Road Atlas 4.0 for Windows, the
required file AMW.EXE cannot be found.

CAUSE
=====

Destination Europe Install searches the installation directory for a
version of Road Atlas for Windows, versions 3.0, 3.02, 3.04, or 3.05. An
installed version 4.0 is not accepted.

RESOLUTION
==========

To install Destination Europe, you must modify the INSTALL.INF file. The
modifications keep Install from looking for AMW.EXE and prevent Install
from overwriting files required by Road Atlas.

The steps below involve editing .INF files. For more information about how
to accomplish this task in Windows, see your Windows printed documentation
or online help.

1. Insert the Destination Europe Disk 1 into the floppy disk drive.

2. Using a text editor such as Notepad, open the file INSTALL.INF
   located on Disk 1.

3. Delete the following lines from the INSTALL.INF file:

      REQUIRES=AMW.EXE
      12=USAUPD.NBZ
      16=WINPROG.NBZ
      17=WINLANG.NBZ

4. Save changes to the INSTALL.INF file and exit the text editor.

5. From the Program Manager File menu, choose Run.

6. In the Command Line box, type the following and press ENTER

      <drive>:\install

   where <drive> is the letter of your floppy disk drive. For example if
   you insert Disk 1 into drive A, type the following and press ENTER:

      a:\install

   Install prompts you to type the path to the Road Atlas files and copies
   the program files to the hard drive.

MORE INFORMATION
================

Destination Europe creates a new subdirectory called EUROPE.MAP and
