SYMPTOMS
========
 
When you attempt to install Microsoft Works 4.0 for the Macintosh, you
receive the following message:
 
   Not enough memory to run Macsetup. Try increasing Macsetup's memory
   partition and then try the operation again.
 
RESOLUTION
==========
 
NOTE: If this is your first attempt to install Works, skip steps 1 and 2.
 
1. Open the System folder, then the Preferences folder, and
   drag the Registration Database file to the trash.
 
2. From the Special menu, choose Empty Trash.
 
3. Insert Microsoft Works 4.0 Install Disk 1. Open the Setup Folder.
 
4. Click the Microsoft Setup icon.
 
5. From the File menu, choose Get Info.
 
6. Make sure that the number shown in the Preferred Memory Size box is
   1500K. If not, click the Preferred size box and type 1500. Close the
   box.
 
7. From the Apple menu, choose Control Panels.
 
   a. Double-click the Memory control panel.
 
   b. In the Virtual Memory section, click ON.
 
8. From the Special menu, choose Restart.
 
9. Insert Install Disk 1. Double-click the Microsoft Works Setup icon and
   proceed with Setup.
 
MORE INFORMATION
================
 
The Setup program makes use of available memory when copying files. If
there is not enough available memory when attempting to start Setup, you
may see this error message.
