SYMPTOMS
========

In Microsoft Project, if you open the Customize dialog box (Toolbars), and
click Help, or press the HELP key, you cannot activate the Customize dialog
box again by clicking the dialog box.

Additionally, if you choose a command from the Toolbar shortcut menu while
the Help window is open, the command does not perform the expected
behavior.

CAUSE
=====

Normally, when you open a dialog box, and then open Help either by clicking
Help, or by pressing the Help key, you can activate the dialog box again by
clicking on the dialog box behind the Help window. You can switch between
the Help window and the dialog box by clicking the one you want to
activate. This is helpful for example if you read a procedure in Help and
you want to try the steps in the dialog box while Help is still open.

However, when you open the Help window while the Customize dialog box is
open, you cannot switch back to the dialog box. When you click the dialog
box, the dialog box appears momentarily in front of Help, and then
disappears again behind the Help window.

Similarly, if you press the CTRL key, and click the Toolbar area to display
the Toolbar shortcut menu while Help is open, when you choose an available
command, such as Toolbars, nothing happens. The commands do not perform the
expected behavior even though they appear available.

WORKAROUNDS
===========

To activate the Customize dialog box, or to use any of the commands on the
Toolbar shortcut menu, do one of the following:

   1. Close the Help window first.

   2. Click on the project's view area to bring it to the foreground. For
      example, if the Gantt Chart is the active view, click on the
      timescale or table portion of the view.
