The information in this article applies to:

 - Microsoft Project for Windows, version 4.0
 - Microsoft Project for the Macintosh, version 4.0
--------------------------------------------------------------------

SYMPTOMS
========

In Microsoft Project for the Macintosh, when you enter a small value in the
Unit field for a resource, the Duration field for the task to which you
assigned this resource may contain a different value than in Microsoft
Project for Windows.

CAUSE
=====

This difference in rounding behavior only occurs with small resource Unit
values. For example, if you assign 0.4 units of a resource to a task that
has a duration of 2m, in Microsoft Project for the Macintosh, the duration
remains 2m. In Microsoft Project for Windows, however, the duration changes
to 3m when you assign the resource.

STATUS
======

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products
listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem
and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it
becomes available.
