SYMPTOMS
========
 
When you attempt to use any of the online banking features in Microsoft Money,
you may receive one of the following error messages, depending on your version
of Money:
 
Money 99, 98, 5.0 or 4.0
------------------------
 
    - A prior call to Online Services was interrupted and must be completed before
   other Online tasks can be done. Please go to the Online Services area and
   click the Call button to complete the call.
 
 - A prior call to Online Services was interrupted and must be completed before
   other Online tasks can be done. Do you want to complete the call now?
 
Money 3.0
---------
 
When you start or quit Money, or click a commond on the On-line menu, you may
receive the following message:
 
   A prior On-Line communication was interrupted and must be completed before
   other On-Line tasks can be done. Do you want to complete the communication
   now?
 
CAUSE
=====
 
This behavior can occur if a previous online banking call was interrupted or was
not completed successfully.
 
RESOLUTION
==========
 
To resolve this issue, complete the interrupted call or reset the online banking
features in Money.
 
NOTE: If the interrupted call contained electronic payment instructions, please
see the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base before you proceed:

To complete the interrupted call, click Yes. If you continue to receive the error
message, follow these steps:
 
1. Quit Money.
 
2. Rename the send and receive files for the online features in Money. To do
   this, use the appropriate method for your version of Money.
 
   Money 99, 98 or 5.0
   -------------------
 
   Rename the appropriate send and receive files in the Money working directory.
   Depending upon the service provider for your bank, the files will either be
   <filename>.npc and <filename>.npd, <filename>.vsa and
   <filename>.vsb, <filename>.ofd and <filename>.ofe, or
   <filename>.msn and <filename>.mso.
 
   Money 4.0
   ---------
 
   Rename the <filename>.npc and <filename>.npd files in the Money
   working folder.
 
   Money 3.0
   ---------
 
   Rename the <filename>.snd and <filename>.rcv files in the Money
   working folder.
 
   For information about how to rename files, click Start, click Help, click the
   Index tab, type "rename" (without the quotation marks), and then double-click
   the "Renaming files" topic to display it.
 
3. Start Money.
 
4. When you receive the error message, click Yes.
 
5. Type your PIN number, and then click OK.
 
   When Money resets. you receive one of the following messages:
 
   Money 99, 98, 5.0 or 4.0
   ------------------------
 
   Money attempted to recover from a previous communications error, but couldn't
   due to missing communications files. Please send your original transactions
   again.
 
   Money 3.0
   ---------
 
   Money has reset its state after a communication file was deleted from disk.
   Please try your call again.
 
6. Use the information on the Contact Information tab in Money to contact your
   financial institution to verify your payments.

In Microsoft Money 3.0, you can also resolve this issue by exporting all of your
accounts into a new file. For more information about how to do this, see the
Money online Help file, or Appendix A on page 329 of the "Microsoft Money 3.0
User's Guide."
 
If you receive a "The PIN You Entered Was Invalid" error message in addition to
one of the error messages listed in the "SYMPTOMS" section of this article, you
may have typed an invalid PIN or password when you started the interrupted call.
