SUMMARY
=======

If Money came pre-installed on your computer, you will not see Step
3: Choosing a Set of Income and Expense Categories as described on
page 7 of the "Microsoft Money User's Guide." This step only occurs
on a new installation of Money or upon the creation of a new data file. If
the standard categories were not selected during the pre-installation by
your computer manufacturer, none of the default categories will be
available.

MORE INFORMATION
================

If your Money file does not include categories, you will need to
create a new file to access the standard categories. Use the following
steps:

1. From the File menu, choose New.

2. Enter a filename and choose OK.

3. Choose No in the dialog box that asks if you want to save a backup
   file.

4. Select Standard Categories and choose OK.

5. Choose OK in the Create First Account dialog box.

6. Type the name of the first account, choose the account type, and
   then choose the OK button.

7. Type the opening balance for the account, (or leave it blank to
   start with a zero balance), and choose the OK button.

Now the standard categories are available for this file.

NOTE: If you need to add the transactions from the original file to
this new file, you will need to export the accounts from the original
file and then import them into the new file. Refer to the blue shaded
text box on page 328 of the "Microsoft Money User's Guide" for
information on exporting and importing accounts.
