SYMPTOMS
========

After importing a loose or strict .qif file into Money, you may notice
some of your transactions have the word *VOID* in the balance column.
You may also notice that part or all of the payee is missing. This
occurs if you use the word "Void" (without the quotation marks) at
the beginning of your payee name.

MORE INFORMATION
================

Money reserves the word Void (in any combination of capital
or non-capital letters) in a payee name to indicate a void
transaction. When Money sees Void as the first word in a string of
text, it considers the transaction void and any text directly after it
becomes the payee.

When Money imports a .qif file, it removes the word Void from any
payee name and marks the transaction as void. Money replaces the
transaction amount with the word *VOID*. That transaction is not
included when Money calculates the ending balance.

RESOLUTION
==========

If you use the word Void in your payee names for non-void transactions,
and you need to import your file into Money, use one of the following
methods to resolve this problem.

Method 1
--------

If you have a backup copy of your current file, use the following
steps to rename the payee and re-export the data:

1. Return to the original (source) file.

2. Use the following step for your version of Money.

   Money 5.0 or 4.0
   ----------------

   Go To the Payees & Categories window.

   Money 1.0, 2.0, 3.0
   -------------------

   On the List menu, click Payee List.

3. Select the payee with the word Void, and then click Rename.

4. Type a new name that does not start with Void, and then click OK.

   For example: If the original payee is Void Company, you could enter
   "The Void Company" or "Company Void."

5. Export the data.

6. Import the data into the new file.

Method 2
--------

If you would like to correct the current file, do the following:

1. After you have imported the .qif file, click a void transaction.

2. Use the following step for your version of Money.

   Money 5.0 or 4.0
   ----------------

    - One the Edit menu, click Mark As, and then clear Void.

   Money 1.0, 2.0, 3.0
   -------------------

    - On the Edit menu, click Unvoid Transaction.

3. Return the payee back to its original form.
