SYMPTOMS
========

When you are using the Novell PRINTCON utility, no default print queues
are displayed. Or, when you are trying to print with the NPRINT utility,
you receive an error message stating that no print queue was found.

CAUSE
=====

These error messages occur when you are using the Microsoft Client for
NetWare Networks and the PRINTCON.DAT file on the Novell server is marked
as read-only. The utilities try to open the PRINTCON.DAT file with read and
write access, but cannot. After it receives a failure code from the server,
the Microsoft Client for NetWare Networks does not try to open the
PRINTCON.DAT file with read-only access.

RESOLUTION
==========

To correct this problem, use any one of the following methods:

 - Do not mark the PRINTCON.DAT file as read-only.

 - Use the Novell Workstation Shell (NETX) instead of the Microsoft
   Client for NetWare Networks.

 - If you are using the NPRINT utility, specify the print queue on the
   command line. Use the following syntax:

      nprint <filename.ext> /Q=<queue>
