SYMPTOMS
========
 
In Microsoft Project, the Organizer utility allows you to rename or delete
the Project Summary and Base Calendar reports.
 
WORKAROUND
==========
 
To retrieve either of these reports, use the appropriate procedure below.
 
If you are using Microsoft Project for Windows
----------------------------------------------
 
 1. Exit Microsoft Project.
 
 2. Locate the Global.mpt file and rename this file "Global.bak" (without
    the quotation marks).

    your Windows printed documentation or online Help.
 
 3. Copy the Backup.mpt file and name the copied file "Global.mpt" (without
    quotation marks).
 
    For more information about how to perform this task in Windows, see
    your Windows printed documentation or online Help.
 
 4. Start Microsoft Project.
 
    Microsoft Project will read the new Global.mpt file which contains the
    original reports.
 
 5. From the View menu, select More Views. Choose the Organizer button.
 
 6. Select the Reports tab.
 
 7. Copy the Project Summary and the Base Calendar reports to Project1.
    Click Close.
 
 8. On the File menu, click Save, and save the new file as Temp.mpp
 
 9. Exit Microsoft Project.
 
10. Delete Global.mpt, and rename Global.bak to Global.mpt.

11. Start Microsoft Project.
 
12. On the File menu, click Open. Open the Temp.mpp file.
 
13. Repeat steps 5 through 8 to copy the Project Summary and Base Calendar
    Reports from Temp.mpp back into Global.mpt.
 
14. On the File menu, click Close.
 
If you are using Microsoft Project for the Macintosh
----------------------------------------------------
 
 1. Exit Microsoft Project.
 
 2. Locate the Global Template file and rename this file "Global.bak"
   (without the quotation marks).

 3. Copy the Backup Of Global Template file and name the copied file
    "Global Template" (without quotation marks).

 4. Start Microsoft Project.
 
    Microsoft Project will read the new Global Template file which contains
    the original reports.
 
 5. From the View menu, choose More Views. Choose the Organizer button.
 
 6. Select the Reports tab.
 
 7. Copy the Project Summary and the Base Calendar reports to Project1.
    Click Close.
 
 8. On the File menu, click Save, and save the new file as Temp.mpp
 
 9. Exit Microsoft Project.
 
10. Delete Global Template, and rename Global.bak to Global Template.

11. Start Microsoft Project.
 
12. On the File menu, click Open. Open the Temp.mpp file.
 
13. Repeat steps 5 through 8 to copy the Project Summary and Base Calendar
    Reports from Temp.mpp back into Global Template.
 
14. On the File menu, click Close.
 
STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products
listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this problem
