SUMMARY
=======

PowerPoint 3.0 and 4.0 do not support graphic builds. However, it is
possible to simulate builds of graphic objects by using transitions between
two slides. The effect is that it appears as though objects are building on
a single slide.

MORE INFORMATION
================

The procedure is as follows:

1. Create a slide that reflects the way you want your slide to look before
   the graphic build. (We will refer to this slide as Slide A.)

2. In Slide Sorter view, highlight Slide A and click Copy on the Edit menu.

3. Click the right of the slide to bring up the blinking insertion cursor,
   and then click Paste on the Edit menu. This creates a duplicate of the
   preceding slide. (We will refer to this slide as Slide B.)

4. Change to Slide view and make Slide B the active slide.

5. On the Insert menu, click Clip Art or Picture to place the image you
   want to build on the slide.

6. On the Tools menu, click Transition, and select the desired effect.
   Most of the transition effects will work. The transitions effects that
   won't work include the names Cover, Uncover, or Fade.

When you view the transition in your Slide Show, it will appear as though
the graphic is building on one slide, because Slide A and Slide B are
identical except for the inserted graphic. Objects and text that are the
same on two adjoining slides will not refresh, thereby enhancing the
illusion that the build is occurring on one slide.
