SYMPTOMS
========

When you starting Automap Road Atlas for MS-DOS, you may receive the
following error messages:

   File read error 0.0.0 in Arp.ini

After you click OK, or pressing ENTER to continue, one of the following
message appears on a gray screen:

Message 1
---------

   Error 4

To clear this message, click OK, or press ENTER. This stops the execution
of the Automap.

 -or-

Message 2
---------

   Error 58 Arp.ini corrupted

To clear this message, click OK, or press ENTER. This stops the execution
of the Automap.

CAUSE
=====

The errors are caused by a corrupt Arp.ini file.

RESOLUTION
==========

To eliminate the error message delete the Arp.ini file.

The file is located in the c:\Automap\Usa.map subdirectory, where c is the
letter of the hard drive where you installed Automap.

The file can be deleted because each time Automap starts, it looks for
Arp.ini. If Automap finds the file, the program attempts to use Arp.ini. If
it does not find the file, Automap recreates it using the default settings.

MORE INFORMATION
================

The Arp.ini file is the configuration settings file for the United
States map. The file contains compiled information pertaining to the
default zoom factor. The file also contains information about which
databases are displayed on the map, how quickly they are displayed,
and in what order they are displayed.

Changes made to the Utilities menu Options selection are stored in the
Arp.ini file when the Save feature is selected.
