1. Q. How do I transfer my Money file between two computers?

   A. File management is handled through File Manager in Windows 3.x
and with Windows Explorer in Windows 95. You need to copy your
data file with the .mny extension to a floppy disk to use the file
      with another computer.

For more information about how to perform this task in Windows,
see your Windows printed documentation or online Help.

2. Q. How do I create a standard set of categories and subcategories in
      Money?

   A. Standard Categories is a selection during creation of your Money
file.
The only way to return the Set Up Category List dialog box is to
create
      a new file in Money.

To create a new file, perform the following eight steps:

      1. On the File menu in Microsoft Money, click New.

      2. In the New dialog box, type a filename (for example, Personal.mny)
         and click OK.

      3. Money shows a Backup Reminder. Click Yes.

      4. From the Set Up Category List dialog, select Standard Categories.

      5. To accept the changes, click OK.

      6. At the Create First Account dialog box, click OK to create your
         account.

      7. At the Create New Account dialog box, type your account
name and the type of account you want to create. Click OK to
         accept the changes.

      8. At the Opening Balance dialog box, type your opening balance and
         click OK.

3. Q. How do I change the opening balance?

   A. Perform the following three steps:

      1. On the List menu in Microsoft Money, click Account List.

      2. Select the account in which you want to change the opening
balance. Type the new opening balance.

      3. Click Close.

4. Q. How do I use a password to protect my Money file?

   A. You can assign a password to any Money file. Once a file has a
password, you are prompted to type it each time you open that file
or start Money with that file.

To add a password to your current Money file, perform the
      following four steps:

      1. Open the Money file you would like to protect with a password.

      2. On the File menu, click Password.

      3. In the New Password dialog box, type the password you would like
         to use, then click OK.

      4. In the New Password dialog box, retype the password to confirm
         your new password.

NOTE: Microsoft engineers cannot unlock password-protected files.
Keep a record of your passwords in a safe place.

5. Q. How do I remove the password on a Money file?

   A. Perform the following three steps:

      1. On the File menu, click Password.

      2. Type your current password in the Password box, and click OK.

      3. When you are asked to type a new password, press ENTER twice.

The password is now removed from the file.

6. Q. If I add a password to my Money file, and then forget my password,
      what do I do?

   A. Send your data file to a company that specializes in password
retrieval. To ensure password protection, Microsoft cannot
assist customers in opening password-protected files.

7. Q. What if I did not setup a password, but Money keeps requesting one?

   A. You may have corruption in your .mny file. If this is the case, you
may need to use your backup (.bak) file.

8. Q. Can Money import and export Quicken files?

   A. Yes. To import a Quicken account into Money, perform the
      following six steps:

      1. Prepare each of your accounts in Quicken by exporting each
Quicken account to a separate file, using the Quicken Export
command. Make sure to export all the .qif files to the same
         folder.

      2. On the File menu in Money, click Import.

      3. In the Filename box, click Select All to choose all the Quicken
accounts files you want to import.

NOTE: It is important that you import all of the .qif files at
the same time to be sure that transfers between accounts are
         imported properly.

      4. After you've chosen all the files you want, click OK.

      5. Use one of the following steps:

          - In the Select Import Account dialog box, choose the Money
accounts to which you want the first Quicken account's
            records added.

            -or-

          - If you want to create a new Money account for the Quicken
            records, click New.

      6. Click OK to complete the import of the Quicken files into Money.

To export an account from Money into Quicken, perform the following
      five steps:
