SYMPTOMS
========
 
In Road Atlas, you receive the following error message when you change the
Route Settings Fuel tab or Route Wizard fuel to a cost less than $1.00:
 
   The value you specified is too small.
 
When you click OK, the dollar amount changes to 0,04$.
 
CAUSE
=====
 
This occurs when the Windows International settings are set to
 
  Country:   Canada (French)
  Language:  French Canadian
 
or when the decimal separator is set as a comma.
 
RESOLUTION
==========
 
To correct this problem, change the decimal separator from a comma to
a period using the instructions for your version of Windows.
 
Windows 95
----------
 
1. Click the Start button, point to Settings, and then click the Control
   Panel.
 
2. Double-click Regional Settings.
 
3. Click the Number Tab.
 
4. Change the Decimal Symbol to a period. Click Apply.
 
5. Restart your computer, if necessary.
 
Windows 3.x
-----------
 
1.  Double-click the Control Panel, usually located in the Main group.
 
2.  Double-click the International icon.
 
3.  In the International - Number Format dialog box, click Change.
 
4.  Change the Decimal Separator from a comma to a period.
 
5.  Click OK to close the Number Format window.
 
6.  Click OK to close the Control Panel.
 
STATUS
======
 
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Automap Road Atlas version
4.0 for Windows. We are researching this problem and will post new
information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
 
MORE INFORMATION
================
 
If Microsoft Automap Road Atlas for Windows is configured to use
liters instead of gallons, the default fuel cost per liter is $0,36.
Similarly, if the program is configured for gallons, the same error
message is displayed, but the amount changes to 0,04$.
 
The conversion results vary with the dollar amount entered.
