SUMMARY
=======

This article describes how to add accented characters to a Microsoft
PowerPoint slide. PowerPoint does not have an Insert Symbol command to
insert extended or international characters.

If you are using either the Windows or Windows 95 operating system, you can
type the ANSI code for the extended character you want to use. To determine
the ANSI code use the Character Map accessory program. You can also use
Character Map to copy the character you want to the Clipboard, and then
paste it into your PowerPoint slide.

On the Macintosh operating system, you can use the Key Caps desk accessory
to provide the appropriate keystrokes for your accented character.

NOTE: PowerPoint 97 and PowerPoint 98 Macintosh Edition allow you to insert
symbols by clicking Symbol on the Insert menu.
