The information in this article applies to:

  - Microsoft Money version 5.0 for Windows 95
 - Microsoft Money versions 4.0 and 4.0a for Windows 95
-------------------------------------------------------------------

SYMPTOMS
========

When a non-CD version Microsoft Money 4.0 or 5.0 is installed in
the same location as an older version of Money, the old shortcuts
are not removed and may not function correctly. When you try to
launch one of the shortcuts, you may receive a message similar to
the following:

   The item 'PLAY.EXE' that this shortcut refers to has been changed
   or moved. The nearest match, based on size, date, and type,
   is xxxxxx.xxx(program name). Do you want this shortcut to point to
   this item?

RESOLUTION
==========

NOTE: This does not apply if you have installed the new version of
Money from CD-ROM discs.

If you upgrade over Money 3.0, the shortcuts that are in the
Microsoft Money folder in the Start Menu can be removed. If you upgrade
over Money 2.x, the shortcut in the Microsoft SolutionSeries folder
launches Money 4.0 correctly, but it is not required and can be
removed.

Setup removes the programs that the shortcuts link to, but the
shortcuts are not removed and point to invalid locations. To remove the
old folders from the Start menu, do the following:

1. Click the Start button, point to Settings, and then click Taskbar.

2. Click the Start Menu Programs tab, and then click Remove.

3. Click the folder named Microsoft Money (Money 3.0) or Microsoft
   SolutionSeries (Money 2.0).

   NOTE: Make sure that you select (click) the folder icon, not the
   Microsoft Money icon that has the checkbook next to it.

4. To remove the folder from the menu, click Remove.

5. If asked if you want to remove the folder, click Yes.

6. Close the Remove Shortcuts/Folders dialog box.

7. Click OK to close the Taskbar Properties dialog box.

To start Microsoft Money, click the Start button, point to Programs,
and then click Microsoft Money.
