1. Q. My check information is printing in the wrong place. It prints
too low or too high on my check forms. How can I adjust the
printing on a laser or ink-jet printer?

   A. Microsoft Money automatically prints information in the proper
position on checks. However, printer and check variations can
make it necessary to adjust print alignment. Use the following
steps to adjust print alignment for your version of Money.

      Money 4.0
      ---------

Use the following four-step procedure to adjust print alignment
      in Money 4.0:

      1. On the Tools menu in Money, click Options.

      2. Click the Print Checks tab.

      3. Follow the instructions in the Printing Alignment section and
enter a number in the desired alignment boxes.

      4. Click OK.

      Money 2.x and 3.x
      -----------------

Use a text editor, such as Windows Notepad, to add the
PrintOffset switch to your MSMONEY.INI file. The file is
located in the directory where you installed Microsoft Money.

NOTE: You must have a laser-type check selected for PrintOffset
      to work.

2. Q. When I print checks, the printing is truncated or cut off. How
      can I correct this?

   A. This problem can occur if the unprintable region of the printer
driver is too wide. You may be able to get an updated printer
driver with a narrower unprintable area from the printer
      manufacturer.

To check the unprintable regions of your printer driver, use the
steps below for your version of Windows:

      Windows 95
      ----------

You can use WordPad to determine the unprintable region in
Windows 95, using the following four steps:

      1. Click the Start button, point to Programs, point to
         Accessories, and then click WordPad.

      2. On the File menu, click Page Setup.

      3. Click the Printer button and make sure the same printer is
         named.

      4. Change all the margins to zero and as you tab to the next
margin, WordPad replaces the zero with the minimum setting
         for that margin.

      Windows 3.x
      -----------

Use the Write program in Windows to check the printing region.
For more information and detailed steps for accomplishing this
task, order article Q93049 from the Money FastTips catalog.

3. Q. Why won't partial sheets of checks print properly on my inkjet
      printer?

   A. Printing partial sheets of checks (single-sheet style) is not
supported with inkjet-printer technology. (A partial sheet of
checks is when you have fewer than three checks on a single-
sheet prior to loading the sheet of checks into the printer.)
Inkjet printers include the Hewlett-Packard (HP) DeskJet models
      and Canon BubbleJet series printers.

You can choose to use Laser Voucher checks with inkjet-style
printers, or print Laser Standard or Laser Wallet checks in
      batches of three.

Because the DeskJet and BubbleJet series printers do not
support manual feed, it is difficult to align and print partial
sheets of checks. For more information about this topic, please
order article Q117505 in the Money FastTips catalog.

4. Q. How do I change the printer in Money version 4.0 for Windows 95?

   A. To change the target printer in Microsoft Money 4.0 for Windows
95, use the following three steps:

      1. On the File menu in Money, point to Print Setup, and then
click Report And Chart Setup or Check Setup.

      2. In the Page Setup dialog box, select the desired printer from
         the Printer list.

      3. Click OK.

5. Q. Why won't my charts print in color?

   A. Microsoft Money can print charts in color. To use this option,
you need to turn off the default setting, Print Patterns Instead
Of Color. To print color charts, use the following four steps:

      1. Create a chart in Money.

      2. In Money 4.0, click Customize. Or, in Money 2.x and 3.x, click
         Format.

      3. Clear the Print Patterns Instead Of Color check box.

      4. Click OK.

6. Q. How do I change my printer settings in Money version 4.0 for
      Windows 95?

   A. Changing printer settings to print checks is not recommended. If
you want to change the settings for reports or charts, use the
      following three steps:

      1. When you are ready to print the report or chart, click Print
on the File menu in Money.

      2. Click Setup. Select the printer you want, and then click
         Properties.

      3. Change the printer settings.

      the Money FastTips catalog.

7. Q. In Money version 4.0 for Windows 95, why do my checks feed
      through the printer without printing?

   A. When you attempt to print continuous feed checks to an Epson
ESC/P2 printer, no text prints. Only blank sheets form feed.

To print the checks, use a non-ESC/P2 driver, such as the Epson
LQ 850 or the Epson LQ 2500. Make sure the printer is configured
as an additional printer connected to the same port. Do not
replace the current driver. Choose this alternative driver for
      check printing only.

To set a printer for use in Check Printing, use the following
      three steps:

      1. On the File Menu, point to Print Setup, and then click Check
         Setup.

      2. On the Printer pull down list, click the non-ESC/P2 printer.

      3. Select the correct Check Type and Source. Click OK.

9. Q. In Money version 4.0 for Windows 95, why do my checks line feed
before printing and form feed after printing on my dot-matrix
      printer?

   A. Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Money version 4.0
for Windows 95. This has been corrected in Money version 4.0a for
      Windows 95.

To obtain Money version 4.0a for Windows 95, call Microsoft
Product Support Services Monday through Friday, 6:00 A.M. to 6:00
      P.M. Pacific Time at (425) 635-7131.

To work around this problem in Money 4.0 and keep Money from line
feeding the printer before the checks are printed, exit, and then
restart Money before you print a batch of checks.

If you need to reprint or print a new batch, you will again need
to exit and restart Money. Money line feeds the printer before
printing any subsequent batch of checks after it has printed the
      first batch.
