The information in this article applies to:

 - Microsoft PowerPoint for the Macintosh, version 4.0

SUMMARY
=======

PowerPoint does not support saving slides in either PICT or EPS
format with the Save As command. By using some simple steps, however, you
can export your slides in these formats to use with other programs.

PowerPoint 98 does support exporting slides as Joint Photographics Expert
Group Format (JPEG), Graphics Interchange Format (GIF), or Portable Network
Graphics (PNG) format.

MORE INFORMATION
================

Saving a Slide in PICT Format
-----------------------------

1. In Slide Show view, view the slide you want to export to a PICT file.

2. Hold down the COMMAND and SHIFT keys, and then press the number 3 to
   make a screen capture of the slide.

The resulting PICT file will be saved as Picture 1 in the Macintosh HD folder.

Saving a Slide in EPS Format
----------------------------

1. Make sure the LaserWriter 8 extension is selected in the Chooser.

2. In PowerPoint, click Print on the File menu.

3. Next to Pages, click the From button and type in the number of the slide
   you want to print in both the From and To boxes.

4. Under Destination, select File, and then click Save.

5. In the Format list, click the type of EPS file you want.

6. Name the file and click Save.

NOTE: If you attempt to use the Apple LaserWriter 8.4.x or 8.5.x printer
driver to create an Encapsulated PostScript (EPS) file from Microsoft
PowerPoint 98, the process seems to work correctly, however, no file is
created. For additional information, please see the following article in
the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

               Driver

When saving as EPS, you have the option to save the file with either a
Standard or Enhanced preview, or no preview at all. The Standard preview
option places a 1-bit PICT header in the resource fork of the file. The
Enhanced preview option places a 24-bit PICT header in the resource
fork of the file.

This option will not be available if QuickDraw GX is active.
