SYMPTOMS
========

When you attempt to run Apple File Exchange on the Macintosh System
Software version 7.5.1 you may receive the following error:

   The Application "unknown" has unexpectedly quit, because an error of
   type 1 occurred

RESOLUTION
==========

To work around this problem, use any of the following methods (avoid
method 3 if you are not sure which type of Macintosh you have):

Method 1: Use the Macintosh System 7.5 Disk Tools disk
------------------------------------------------------

Start the computer from the Macintosh System 7.5 disk tools floppy disk.

Method 2: Use the Macintosh System 7.5 compact disc
---------------------------------------------------

Start the computer from the compact disc that contains your system
software:

1. Insert the compact disc in the disc drive

2. On the special menu, click restart.

3. When the computer shuts down, hold down the "c" key.

Method 3: Remove the System 7.5 Update and restart the computer
---------------------------------------------------------------

CAUTION: Do not use this method if you are unsure of the type of
Macintosh computer your are using. If you are using one of the following
types of Macintosh computers, your computer will not start if you remove
the System 7.5 Update file:

 - Power Macintosh 6100/66
 - Power Macintosh 7100/80
 - Power Macintosh 7100/80AV
 - Power Macintosh 8100/100
 - Power Macintosh 8100/100AV

Remove the System 7.5 Update file from the system folder and then
restart your computer.
