- Microsoft PowerPoint for Macintosh, version 4.0

SYMPTOMS
========

When you run a slide show in PowerPoint 4.0 that has a movie object on
the Slide Master, the first frame of the movie appears on all slides.
However, the movie object does not play during the slide show.

NOTE: In PowerPoint 3.0 and PowerPoint 98, movies on the Slide Master do
play during a slide show.

CAUSE
=====

The PowerPoint 4.0 Slide Master is not designed to run movie clips. You
will notice that if you select the movie object while in the slide master,
the Play Settings command on the Tools menu is dimmed (unavailable). For
example, if you had a company logo that you wanted to appear on all of
your slides, you would put that logo onto the master. PowerPoint treats
the first frame of the movie the same way it treats your logo: as a
graphic.

RESOLUTION
==========

To have a movie run in a PowerPoint 4.0 slide show, insert the movie into
the presentation while in Slide view. The Play Settings command will now be
available.
