SUMMARY
=======

If you insert a time placeholder into the Slide Master of a PowerPoint 3.0
or 4.0 presentation and run the slide show, the first and subsequent slides
will display the time that the show was started.

This behavior is described in PowerPoint Help as:

   The time that appears will be the time the slide is printed or
   shown.

This may be confusing.

MORE INFORMATION
================

In PowerPoint 3.0 or 4.0, the page number, date, and time placeholders are
updated when a slide show is started or a presentation is printed. They are
not updated at any other time.

Note: PowerPoint Help also contains the following information about
the time placeholder:

   Time symbols are generally used to keep track of draft versions
   as the presentation is developed. You may want to omit time
   symbols from the final printed version.

In PowerPoint for Windows 95, version 7.0, PowerPoint 97 for Windows, and
PowerPoint 98 Macintosh Edition, you can insert time placeholders as fixed
text or to be updated automatically.
