The information in this article applies to:

 - Microsoft Money, versions 4.0, 4.0a, 5.0 for Windows 95
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SYMPTOMS
========

Part of the Money content screen looks missing or cut off, even if the window is
maximized. This effect is very pronounced at a screen resolution of 640x480, or
a resolution of 800x600 with large fonts selected.

CAUSE
=====

This issue can occur if the Courier New fonts, which are a standard part of
Windows 95, are missing or damaged. These fonts are in the following list:

 - Courier New
 - Courier New Bold
 - Courier New Bold Italic
 - Courier New Italic

RESOLUTION
==========

To resolve this issue, reinstall the Courier New fonts. To reinstall any one of
the Courier New fonts from the Windows 95 disk, follow these steps:

1. To find and remove a corrupted Courier New font, do the following:

   a. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.

   b. Double-click the Fonts folder.

   c. To find the corrupted font, double-click each Courier New font listed
until Windows returns an error message stating that the font is damaged.

NOTE: Occasionally, Windows 95 does not return an error message indicating that
the font is damaged. In this case, removing all Courier New fonts and
reinstalling them may resolve the issue.

   d. Click the damaged font.

   e. On the File menu, click Delete.

   f. When you are asked if you want to delete the font, click Yes.

NOTE: To uninstall a font without removing it from the hard disk, move the font
from the Fonts folder into another folder. You can use Windows Explorer to drag
the font from the Fonts folder into another folder. For more information about
moving files, click the Start button, and then click Help. Use the Index tab to
find topics relating to Moving By Drag And Drop.

2. To expand and install a new Courier New font, follow these steps:

NOTE: The following instructions presume the following:

   +-------------------------------------------------------+
   | Drive Or Folder | Description |
   +-------------------------------------------------------+
   | A:\ | Drive letter for your floppy drive. |
   +-------------------------------------------------------+
   | C:\Windows | Folder where Windows is installed. |
   +-------------------------------------------------------+
   | D:\ | Drive letter for your CD-ROM drive. |
   +-------------------------------------------------------+

If any of these assumptions are incorrect, modify the command line
appropriately.

   a. Click Start, point to Run, and then type the line appropriate for your
      copy of Windows 95.

Windows 95 Compact Disc
-----------------------

For the CD-ROM version, insert the Windows 95 CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive, and
then type the following line in the Run box:

   extract /l c:\windows d:\win95\win95_04.cab cour.ttf

Windows 95 Floppy Disks
-----------------------

   b. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.

   c. Double-click the Fonts folder.

   d. On the File menu, click Install New Font.

   e. Double-click Courier New.

NOTE: If you do not see the Courier New font in the List of Fonts box, change the
location you are looking at to the C:\Windows folder, or whatever location you
extracted the file to in Step A above.

   f. Click Start, then click Shut Down. Click Restart The Computer?, and then
      click Yes.

3. Start Money to confirm that you are able to see the scroll bar or the command
buttons on the right side of the screen.

MORE INFORMATION
================

Sometimes, OEM versions of Win95 may have this file on a different cabinet. To
find the cabinet location of a specific file, use the following query at an
MS-DOS prompt:

NOTE: The following command line presumes D: is the drive letter for your CD-ROM
drive. If your CD-ROM drive uses a different drive letter, use that letter
instead of D.

extract /a /d d:\win95\win95_02.cab filename | more

This looks through cabinets one by one to find the requested file. When you get
to the end of a viewable page, it pauses. Press ENTER to see more files.

When you find the correct win95_XX.cab, edit the extract command listed in this
article to use the correct cabinet file.

This problem seems to occur only with certain screen resolutions. If higher
screen resolutions are used with a small font selected, the problem does not
occur.
