SYMPTOMS
========

When you click Microsoft Word Table on the PowerPoint Insert menu, you
receive a message similar to the following:

   The server application, source file, or item cannot be found.
   Make sure the application is properly installed, and that it has not
   been deleted, moved, or renamed.

CAUSE
=====

This error occurs because you are running a version of Microsoft Word that
is earlier than version 6.0. The Insert Microsoft Word Table command in
PowerPoint 4.0 works only with Word 6.0 and later. Earlier versions of
Word are not recognized by this command.

RESOLUTION
==========

The following steps illustrate how to insert Word tables from Word version
5.1 into PowerPoint 4.0:

1. On the Insert menu, click Object.

2. From the list of choices, select Word Document and click OK. A
   Word 5.1 document window called Embedded Object #1 will appear.

3. On the Insert menu, click Table.

4. Format the table as desired.

5. On the File menu, click Quit And Update. This closes Word and
   places the Word table into your PowerPoint document.
