SYMPTOMS
========

When trying to import a QuickTime movie by clicking Movie on the Insert
menu, you may receive a message similar to the following:

   The movie file "<filename>" cannot be found. Without this file,
   the movie cannot play properly.

At this point, you can click either Cancel or Search. If you choose Cancel,
the following error message will appear:

   Sorry, the movie could not be inserted into this presentation. Try
   again after increasing the amount of free memory for PowerPoint to
   use.

CAUSE
=====

This problem occurs if the QuickTime movie was saved with "dependencies" to
the original movie file. When a movie is saved with dependencies, what is
created is a small pointer to the actual movie data. If the original movie
file is no longer available or has become corrupted, the errors will
result.

RESOLUTION
==========

Instead of inserting the movie with dependencies, insert the original movie
file. This will establish a direct link between the PowerPoint presentation
and the QuickTime movie.

MORE INFORMATION
================

When movies are inserted into PowerPoint, PowerPoint creates a pointer to
the original movie automatically. Therefore, there is no advantage to
inserting a QuickTime movie with dependencies.
