SYMPTOMS

When you save a worksheet in which you transpose a range of cells that contain one or more aggregate functions, Microsoft Excel for Windows 95 may hang (stop responding).

CAUSE

This problem occurs when all of the following conditions are true:

You transpose a range of cells that contains one or more aggregate functions -and-
You use a range of cells as the argument in the function, for example:
=SUM(A1:E1)
-and-
You use relative cell references when specifying the range of cells in the function.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, use absolute references when you specify the range of cells in the function, for example:

=SUM($A$1:$E$1)

This problem may occur when you use the following functions:

   AVERAGE()          MEDIAN()
   AVEDEV()           MIN()
   COUNT()            PRODUCT()
   DEVSQ()            STDEV()
   GCD()              STDEVP()
   GEOMEAN()          SUM()
   HARMEAN()          SUMSQ()
   LCM()              VAR()
   MAX()              VARP()

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. This problem was corrected in Microsoft Excel for Windows 95, version 7.0a. NOTE: This problem does not occur in earlier versions of Microsoft Excel.
