SYMPTOMS
========

Importing QIF files that contain ShrsOut or ShrsIn action can
produce erroneous results affecting various account information such
as account balances and capital gains.

CAUSE
=====

Money does not support the ShrsOut or ShrsIn action provided by
Quicken. Money does not have a way of handling transactions of this
type.

If an account is imported that contains the ShrsOut action, Money will
interpret the transaction as a sell with a value of zero. The value of
the sell is zero because Quicken does not require a monetary value to
enter this action. A sell with zero value may causes inaccurate
capital gains or losses to be calculated in reports.

When you are importing a file, you might receive the following
message:

   Some of your Sell activities or stock splits have been imported
   as VOIDED transactions to avoid creating a negative quantity of
   investment shares.

This message will display if the last transaction in the exported file
is a ShrsOut and the balance of the account is negative.

RESOLUTION
==========

After you have imported your investment account(s), you might have to
update security prices if the last transaction in the exported file
was a ShrsOut type of transaction.

STATUS
======

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the products listed at
the beginning of this article.
