The information in this article applies to:

 - Microsoft Works for the Power Macintosh, versions 4.0a, 4.0b
----------------------------------------------------------------------

SYMPTOMS
========

If you attempt to start Works 4.0 for the Power Macintosh after you isolate
the system for troubleshooting, the program may begin to open but
immediately shuts down. No error message is displayed.

CAUSE
=====

This problem occurs because the Power Macintosh version of Works requires
that both the Microsoft OLE Extension and the Microsoft OLE Library are in
the Extensions folder in order to start. If the Microsoft OLE Library is
not moved to the new Extensions folder as part of the system isolation, you
will experience the symptoms mentioned above.

RESOLUTION
==========

To avoid this problem, make sure that the Microsoft OLE Library is in the
active Extensions folder when you attempt to open Works for the Power
Macintosh.
