The information in this article applies to:

 - Microsoft Works for the Macintosh, versions 4.0, 4.0a, 4.0b
----------------------------------------------------------------------

SYMPTOMS
========

In the Word Processor in Works, if you type information into the header or
footer of a document, and then you make changes to the document in Page
Setup, the header and footer information you typed may disappear.

CAUSE
=====

The symptom is caused by the fact that Works 4.0 does not immediately
refresh the header and footer after you make changes in Page setup. The
information you typed still exists even though you are unable to view it.

RESOLUTION
==========

To resolve this problem, force Works 4.0 to refresh the header or footer.
To do this, use one of the following steps:

 - From the View menu, choose "Header" or "Footer".

 - Click in the header or footer area.

The text in the headers and footers should now be visible.
