SYMPTOMS
========
 
If you open the NetWare client personal computer properties dialog box and
select Remote Chat from the Helpdesk option, the Remote User name will be
incorrect or will appear as garbled text. Also, the users at the client
computers will also see the same incorrect name or string of garbled text
for the Local User name when the Remote Chat window pops up on their
screen.
 
CAUSE
=====
 
Systems Management Server is not identifying the logged in user on the
NetWare client. Instead, it seems to either be choosing a random account
from the NetWare accounts database on the server, or just giving a random
string of characters for the user name.
 
STATUS
======
 
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Systems
Management Server version 1.1. We are researching this problem and will
post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes
available.
