In the Works Communications module, the options available for the
Connections Settings may be different depending on which version of the
Apple Modem Tool is installed.

Microsoft Works ships with Apple Modem Tool version 1.1.1. Other versions
of this tool produce different options in the Connection Settings window.
The most obvious difference is the number of modems available in the Modem
Settings dialog box.
 
The Apple Modem Tool that ships with Works has 34 different
modems types to choose from. However, other versions of the
Modem Tool, such as 1.5.3, have fewer choices.
 
The modem types that are included with the 1.1.1 version are:

Checking Your Apple Modem Tool Version

To check what version of the Apple Modem Tool that Works is
using, do the following:
 
1. Open the hard drive and then the System Folder.
 
2. In the System Folder, open the Extensions Folder.
 
3. Look for the Apple Modem Tool in the Extensions folder. Click the tool
   once to highlight it.
 
4. On the File Menu, click Get Info.
 
5. This window shows the version of the Apple Model Tool.
 
If the current version is not 1.1.1, remove the Apple Modem Tool from the
Extensions folder, and reinstall the Communications portion of Works from
the install disks.
